ABOUT THE LIBRARY

Library Director's Welcome

At the Lawrence County Public Library, we are committed to serving you. Since 1941, we have been here to help the people of our community lead richer, fuller lives, and that is a commitment that we take seriously.

At the library, we like to think that possibilities are limitless. We can help you create a resumé, teach you how to discover your family's roots, or help introduce your child to the book that fits his or her interests. Whatever your needs, we are in the business of helping connect people to information.

I hope you will take time to visit one of our two locations and patronize our services. Library cards are free for all residents of Lawrence County, and we are proud to offer a wide selection of books, audiobooks, DVDs, periodicals, public programming, and online databases in addition to public access computers and free wireless Internet connection.

After more than seventy-five years in the community, we are proud to still be in the business of serving you.

Stop by and see how we can help you today.

Sincerely,

Teresa Newton
Director,

Our Philosophy
Girls in the Library

At the library, you are our number one priority. The world is changing, but our objective has always been to connect you with the materials and information you need for work, for school, or just for fun. We will use every resource at our disposal to help you find the answers that you need.

Our History

The Lawrence County Public Library was created by an act of the County Court on April 14, 1941. First located in the old City Hall building north of the Public Square, above the Fire Department, the library has been at its East Gaines Street location in Lawrenceburg since 1970.
